THE first leg of the Milo Junior Futsal clinics, catering for boys aged below 12, will kick off at the Sports Planet Ampang Futsal Centre on Aug 31.
The clinics are part of the Milo corporate campaign, Grow with Sports, launched recently. The objective of the campaign is to support the Government’s vision of rekindling the sports culture among parents and children and, in the process, instil good values.
Nestle Products sports marketing manager Ng Ping Loong said sports could bring together people from all walks of life.
“The power of sports cannot be under-estimated. The challenge is to harness its positive values to help develop our children and society at large.
“Children who are active in sports develop strength of character, self-confidence, discipline, a well-rounded personality and a friendly disposition. Sports and studies can mix. A healthy body builds a healthy mind and vice versa. The values our children learn in sports will encourage them to meet all kinds of challenges, giving them a good foundation in life to achieve success in the future,” said Ng after launching the campaign.
The Milo futsal clinics will also serve as a platform not only for children to enjoy sports and promote racial interaction and harmony among children of different races but also help develop basic skills in the game which can be nurtured so that they can become talented junior sports enthusiasts to bring honour to school, state and country in the future.
Each team should comprise eight players. The team managers and coaches are requested to have players from different races.
The champions will receive RM800 cash and other prizes from Milo and the runners- up, RM600; while the third and fourth placed teams will get RM500 and RM400 respectively.
The second clinic will be held at Malacca Sports Planet on Sept 17 and it will be followed by those at the Millennium Soccer Centre in Johor Baru (Nov 12), Safira Sports Planet in Penang (Nov 19), Kota Baru Futsal Arena in Kota Baru (Nov 25) and Plaza Futsal Centre in Kuantan (Dec 3).
