THE “NPNG Veteran Futsal Challenge 2005”, held at the NPNG Sports Centre in Taman Desa Aman, Sungai Buloh, drew only four teams.

However, the organiser was unfazed by the poor turnout. The four teams which showed up – Superstar, Klang United, JRD and AC Malini – were passionate about futsal and lived up to the true spirit of the game.

The veterans were unperturbed by the fact that the event did not offer any prize money.

“It is sad that players only participate in tournaments for the prize money,” said Superstar K. Thanabal.

Klang United player Julian Law pointed out that the feeling of lifting the trophy could never be replaced by monetary gain.

In the final, Superstar defeated Klang United 3-0 to emerge champions. JRD edged AC Malini 3-2 for third spot.
