Malaysia had earlier beaten Cambodia 9-2 on Friday, Vietnam 8-6 in the first game and the Maldives 8-0 on Thursday.

“The boys played really well today (yesterday) and they deserve credit for their performance,” said head coach P. Balakrishnan.

“The win has put the team in the right frame of mind to take on Turkmenistan tomorrow (today). Although they might be better than us, we can give them a fight,” said Balakrishnan.

Kuala Lumpur’s Addie Azwan Zainal was in his best form with goals in the third, 11th and 25th minute while skipper Saiful Mohd Nor scored the second hat-trick in the 1st, 8th and 29th minute.

The other scorers were Mohd Feroz Ab Karnim (13th and 21st minute) and Mohd Azari Ithnain (31st) while Peas Sothy and Teab Vaphanak scored for Cambodia in the 6th and 32nd minute respectively.

In a Group B yesterday, Australia won their second game of the competition with a close 5-4 victory over South Korea.
